My Current Skin Care Routine!

Hello you lovely lot,

Thought i’d do today’s post based on my current skincare routine. Through recent years i’ve really really struggled with my skin. I felt so insecure with my acne and scars that I even resulted to wearing a full face of makeup on holiday to hide the condition of my skin. My acne wasn’t the worse it could possibly be, there are a lot of people who probably suffer a lot more than I did but you know us girls all take more notice and get hung up about our imperfections. After PLENTY of dermatology appointments and lots of trial and error, I finally figured out what was making my skin hate me and I’ve adjusted my skin care accordingly. There’s quite a few products that are mentioned below but believe me, I most definitely do not do this everyday. The only thing I do every single day is take my makeup off. I literally cringe at the thought of sleeping in makeup.

To Remove My Makeup

To remove my makeup I use:

For about a year or so I used coconut oil to remove my makeup in the shower. I loved doing this as it would leave my skin feeling moisturised after which was great for someone who was too lazy to actually have a skin care regiment as it acted as a 2 in 1. It wasn’t until I switched to these products after being recommended by a friend, that I realised it was the coconut oil that was actually causing my acne. I had literally tried EVERYTHING. I was even on medication and having monthly appointments with the dermatologist and nothing changed. As soon as I starting using these products about 7 months ago I’ve literally not had a severe breakout since! I obviously get blemishes on that special week of hell each month but the difference is unreal. I don’t know if these products actually prevent acne as this was just in my case but they get every last bit of makeup of my face, even when i’m caked in makeup!

In The Shower

My shower skin care routine is pretty basic, I use:

I love using this facial wash as it contain 2% purifying Salicylic acid which has been great for helping fade some of my acne scars. It hasn’t got rid of some of my more prominent pigmentation but I use a treatment for that which is included a bit further down. I have combo skin, probably a bit more on the oily side and this facial wash leaves kind of a matte and dry feel after use which is great for my skin type as it gets rid of excess oil. I use this everyday in the shower.

I use the apricot scrub about 2-3 times a week as it is a gentle scrub it’s not too harsh on the skin. It’s supposed to brighten dull skin and remove dull, dead skin cells to reveal smooth and radiant skin. I can’t say my skin is massively brighter from this in all fairness but it definitely is smoother. It’s good for anyone with combo or oily skin as it’s oil free and the smell of this stuff is so nice and refreshing.

Daily Facial Regiment

I’ve been using this duo for years!! A family friend who works as a beauty therapist put me on this ages ago and I’ve never used a different duo since. The Lime Blossom cleanser is a fresh-scented lotion which aims to help naturally balance and repair the skin. This cleanser is suggested to be ideal for balancing combination or youthful skin types prone to breakouts. The corresponding toner helps rebalance the pH level, without the use of alcohol or harsh detergents. It also helps to balance and soften the skin and aims to create a fresh and clear complexion. The duo is suited to oily and combo skin and is super light on the skin but its really hydrating. When I use this consistently, my skin is so much clearer and brighter and my face actually smells amazing after. To apply the cleanser I use about 2 pumps and massage it into my skin using my fingertips and remove the excess with a damp cotton wool pad. I then follow this with spraying the toner on another cotton wool pad and just gently wiping this on the skin.

These moisturisers are perfect for my skin as they’re moisturising but not oily on the skin. The night cream in particular aims to rejuvenate tired skin and when I use this I can still feel the moisture on my skin when I wake up. Plus it smells so fresh!

This product is so amazing for puffiness and dark circles. This product doesn’t last the longest (I’ve currently ran out), especially when you lather it on like me but it makes my under-eye area more moisturised. It also melts into the skin so quickly which I love because I can’t stand when oils sit on the skin.

During the winter months my skin gets quite dry so i’ve actually been doubling up on moisturisers. This moisturiser is aimed at keeping oily skin at its best. It’s made to moisturise without oiliness and leaves a matte finish. It also contains enzymes and alpha hydroxy acids that are supposed to remove dead skin cells and help to stimulate and brighten. I’ve only been using this for a month or so, so I can’t really review it thoroughly but it has left my skin fairly brighter!

Treatments

The treatments I use are:

This stuff is actually a godsend. If you have a spot or a blemish before an event or night out this stuff will save your life. It literally gets rid of the spot or reduces it over night. I just put a little bit of this on top of the blemish before I go to bed and leave it on overnight and I wake up the next day and the spot has nearly disappeared.

I purchased this product 2 weeks ago and I can’t even tell you what it’s done for my acne scars and pigmentation. I use two drops twice a day, morning and night and it’s faded the majority of my problem areas already within 2 weeks. Plus, it’s only £7?!

This item is very much a luxury item. My parents actually treated me to this for Christmas and i’ve used it ever since. It’s an eyelash serum that’s supposed to ‘protect against breakage and brittleness and improve flexibility, moisture, and shine for more dramatic-looking eyelashes’. The reviews on this stuff are amazing. My eyelashes are so much more voluminous, thick and lifted that people have genuinely asked me if I have false lashes on. It’s very very expensive but it lasts 6 months and is totally worth it! To apply it you use the applicator and simply apply this to the lash line.

I know this is more on the high-end side of skincare however this is what works best for my skin. If you’ve tried or purchase any of these products let me know what you think!

Until next time,

Much love,

Ken Xx

The Mario Badescu products are amazing. I wouldn’t say that I have acne but I have had some pretty grizzly spots and the Aloe Lotion works really well. I have been toying with the idea of purchasing the Drying Lotion for a while and now I think I might just give it a go. 🙂

This is actually the only product I’ve tried! I try not to mix too much up in case my face hates me for it😂 for £16 and you only need to use a little so it goes a long way. Take that plunge girl! X
